The Xbox 360’s successor will finally be unveiled in the summer of 2013. Currently codenamed 'Durango', it’s whipped up a veritable whirlwind of rumours. The latest intelligence – gathered from leaked Microsoft presentations and hardware – is that the console will include Blu-ray support, the ability to record from live TV, 3D gaming and a renewed Kinect device that will supposedly work with augmented reality glasses. It’s thought that the Xbox 720 will be powered by 8GB RAM and a quad-core processor, making it vastly more powerful than the current generation of consoles.

Microsoft Reveals Its Sold Over 70 Million Xbox 360 Consoles Worldwide
Microsoft has revealed this week that since its launch back in November 2005, its Xbox 360gaming console has now sold over 70 million units worldwide.
Consolidating its position as the worlds second most popular gaming console after Nintendo’s Wii console which has amassed a massive 96.5 6 million sales, as of the end of June 2012.
Sony’s PlayStation 3 takes up third position clocking up an impressive 63.9 million unit sales, as the end of March 2012. Eurogamer explains that Microsoft’s:
“Entertainment and Devices Division, of which Xbox is a part, enjoyed revenue of $1.95 billion, a decrease of just 1 per cent year on year. Income dropped from $340 million to $19 million off the back of tough comparisons: Microsoft launched Gears of War 3,
Battlefield 3 in September 2011 and didn’t launch anything major during Q1 fiscal 2013.”
Microsoft also identified that their Xbox 3660 gaming console is the most popular out of the three in the US, holding a massive 49 percent market share.

Details of the Xbox 720 “Leaked”
Some "leaked" information about the next gen Xbox were detailed today. Although we say leaked, they are also probably just a little bit made up as well, but either way, I'll post about them so you have something to think about.
First the downside. We hear that the new Xbox 720 will have tighter DRM controls that will require an almost always-on internet connection so that the Xbox can call back to "authenticate" whatever is being used in the drive.
Moving on to the better stuff... the new games console will possibly have a Blu-ray drive as well as a four (quad-core) or six (Hexa-core) processor with one of the processors being dedicated to look after the built in Kinect function of the device. A built in Kinect does raise a few concerns of course as some like to hide their Xbox behind the TV or under it behind doors. Either way, it's just a rumour, leak or a bit of speculation right now.
Also, there will be two GPUs that function completely separate to each other.
For those upset with the DRM controls, if you are legit with the games and content you buy then there's no need to worry assuming you always have a connection.
